Welcome to the official home of the Redback Racing Team, the University of New South Wales entrant into the worldwide Formula Student competition.
We have completed the front monocoque and have attached the front roll hoop and dash-plate. Suspension design has been finalized and construction is under way. Recently the team was rewarded with a drive day for their construction of RB2007. The day allowed all team members to drive RB2007.
The aluminium order from Capral has started to arrive and parts are being machined in the workshop already. Roll hoops are finished and tabs are being welded on soon. The Nose was cut out on Thursday night and bracketed onto the monocoque on Friday. The rear spaceframe design was also finalised on Friday night and is now in the CAD model, we are just awaiting the Chrome-Moly’s arrival. Next is the Bearing order!
Today the team has set the driving position, the driver inclination and location of major ancillaries has been decided. This means that all design decisions for the front monococque have now been made, allowing the team to focus on suspension mounting points at the front of the car and shortly begin construction.
