The RB2000 was the teams first car. As the team had minimal knowledge of Formula SAE design the team elected to create a simple car with time evenly distributed across all tasks. The chassis consisted of a mild steel spaceframe. Fibreglass bodywork provedid a functional exterior. Power came from a Yamaha R6 engine provided by sponsor Toyota. The engine was converted to be fuel injected with engine management from a Motec system. A large number of parts were sourced from production cars. This meant that spares were readily available and reduced the number of parts that the team were required to fabricate in house.
